I don't know about amount of luggage, but I do know that in general, bus operators only allow 20kg per passenger with a maximum measurement of 60cm x 20cm x 55cm per item. On my long-distance travel during my semester breaks before, I would see some people "mailing" their goods via express bus. So if you have too much to bring along, you can always try negotiating with the bus driver or operator (best done a day or two before the journey). Do keep in mind - for your own benefit as well - to ensure that your luggage is well packaged and to prepare extra cash JUST in case you get charged extra if you plan on bringing more than the limit.
