If you're referring to rapid transit or the metro, then no, Kota Kinabalu city does not have that service. There is however, a railway service from the city (northern region) to the outskirts and further down to the southwestern region of Borneo using a 1971 Kawasaki Diesel Engine train. It is run by Sabah State Railway Department and is the only railway service in the state. You can get more information from their portal at this link:

As for shuttle bus service, there are hotels that offer it for free. However for more mobility, there are the public city buses with a charge, of course. A ride for a distance of approximately 1km was RM1 the last time I checked; but that was a few years back (it may be a bit pricier now). Also, it'd be best to know the name of your destination beforehand.

But the great thing about Kota Kinabalu city is that you can just walk from one end to another surrounded by shoplots, malls, coffee shops or even the breeze of the seaside.

UBER and GrabCar services are available there too!
