A number of the famous attractions in KL are free of charge or have no entrance fee. To name, there are the Petronas twin towers attached to the Suria KLCC shopping complex. You can get a view of the tall structure and a good angle for pictures just outside the main entrance. And you won't be alone as you'll see individuals and groups of people coming to take pictures too. In fact, the place is flooded on a daily basis, with locals and tourists alike. The KLCC park is just a 5 minute walk away complete with a mini kids' pool, playground, jogging track, and plenty of grass for picnics. At KL Eco Forest Park, you can get a guided tour around the rainforest reserve.

For a touch of culture, there is Central Market across the Pasar Seni station and Petaling Street a shoplot down. You can get souvenirs and maybe catch a performance at the former. The latter is a street market where you can get various things from bags to food.

In Gombak you have Batu Caves to visit. There are temples located in caves that you'd have to climbed over 200 steps to get to.

Hope this gives you some ideas on where to visit :)
